The Alto Purús National Park aims to conserve a representative sample of the tropical humid forest and its transitional life zones, the evolutionary processes that develop in them, as well as endemic and threatened flora and fauna species. Protect the area where voluntarily isolated indigenous people live. Protect the water courses that are inside the ANP. Develop research, education and tourism work.
It is located in the districts of Iñapari and Tambopata in the provinces of Tahuamanu and Tambopata, respectively, in the department of Madre de Dios and the district of Purú, province of Purús, department of Ucayali. It has an area: 2,510,694.41 ha.
