The objective of the Megantoni National Sanctuary is to conserve the ecosystems found in the Megantoni Mountains, protect the area where voluntarily isolated indigenous people live, provide a special use zone for the indigenous people of Sababantiari, which will allow them to continue with the traditional use of the forests; monitor the impact of hunting. Ensure research possibilities, so that a tourism zone is foreseen.

Megantoni belongs to the PROTECTED NATURAL AREAS - ANP, with category: NATIONAL SANCTUARIES - NS, Political Location: CUSCO, and Extension: 215868.96 ha.
